From our experience, wine is a great distraction. Writing, however, is a more constructive distraction for both you and us. This writing thing started because Jackie got served divorce papers on her way home from yoga by a surprisingly cute bike messenger. This led her to take the job offer that moved her from Jersey to Arkansas.
Laura from California was already in Arkansas. She had relocated from the West Coast a few months before the fabulous Jackie showed up. Laura was dating a charming Southern boy who everyone seemed to know. In February, Laura and this boy took a European vacation. Midway through the trip, the boy informed her that he wanted to be the “single version” of himself. At this point, it had been 8 months since Jackie had been served divorce papers and her ex was still living in HER house.
So, hello wine.
It was a sunny late February day, reflecting on what now was our Arkansas life and everything that led us here, we decided we should share our experiences – in written form. But what brought us together that February day isn’t really what this blog is about. See above, we clearly don’t have the relationship thing figured out. We’ve had more than a few misadventures in our personal lives, and we’ve also had them in our work lives. Still, it is our work misadventures that have led to the most successes.
As you navigate your own professional life, we hope that from our experience you’ll know that you’re not alone and that your misadventures too can be entertaining in hindsight.
